Story Sacks (Without Children Attending)

Duration: 10 hours


Summary

A story sack is a large cloth bag containing a child’s favourite book with supporting materials to help develop children’s language skills. This course will take parents/carers through the process of making a story sack for their child whilst also learning about the impact this can have on a child’s developing English skills.


Outcomes

  • Find out what story sacks are and how to use them effectively with your child
  • Find out how using story sacks can support your child’s communication, language and literacy skills
  • Make a unique story sack to use with your child to support their development
  • Discuss experiences with other parents
  • This course takes 6, 10, 15 hours to complete. (Usually 2, 2.5 or 3 hours per week).

Children do not attend in this version of the course.

  • Step Ahead in English, IT or maths in a school setting
  • Community English or maths courses to gain a Functional Skills qualification
  • Travel Together Through Books – Support Your Child
