By the end of the course, you’ll feel more confident and have a simple, practical plan to guide your next steps toward self‑employment.
What will you do on this course?
- Learn what self‑employment involves and decide if it’s right for you.
- Explore business ideas, whether you already have one or need inspiration.
- Explore realistic business ideas, look at the pros and cons of your ideas and gather feedback to help you choose one to take forward.
- Identify common risks and ways to manage them.
- Learn how to explain your business idea clearly to others.
- Create a simple business plan to help you move forward with confidence.
Progression
After completing this course you can progress on to our Sage Accounting or Digital Skills for the Office courses to further develop your skills.

Entry requirements
- Aged 19 or over
- No previous experience required
- Minimum of Entry 3 level English will be needed to complete a portfolio of evidence
